Destination 5: Deep Space

The universe is 13.7 billion years old. The Hubble Space Telescope can see images that are so far away that the light took over 13.3 billion years to reach us. The light is actually from 13.3 billion years ago, soon after the Big Bang. Deep space images are a window into the distant past. Similarly, if you shine light today into open space it will go on, and on, (and on). If that light is ever seen by future generations, they would be the ones peering into their very distant past.
